The practical driving test in Doncaster lasts for approximately 40 minutes and consists of 3 sections which are:

• The Eyesight Check - The first part of the practical driving test is the eyesight check. To pass this section you will need to read a random vehicle number plate in good daylight conditions with the aid of glasses or contact lenses if you wear them from a distance of 20.5 metres (old style number plate) or 20 metres (old style number plate). It is important that you pass the eyesight check otherwise the driving test maybe declared void and it is highly likely you could lose your driving test fee.
• Vehicle Safety Questions ("Show me, Tell me") - You will then be asked 2 basic vehicle safety questions. These are important car safety check which all drivers should carry out.

• Driving Ability Section - The driving section will start with a short brief by the driving examiner outlining how the driving test will be conducted. On the driving section the driving examiner will give you clear instruction on where they would like you to go. During the test you will be asked to carry out 2 reversing exercises and maybe a controlled emergency stop exercise.

To pass the practical driving test you will need to show the driving examiner that you can drive to an overall good standard and have good sound knowledge of the rules of the road. You must also avoid commiting any more than 15 minor driving errors & commit no serious or dangerous driving errors.

Driving Test Centre - The driving test is taken a Doncaster driving test centre. Driving Test Examiners - Your driving test will be conducted by a Driving Standards Agency (DSA) driving examiner. Arriving at the driving test centre in good time the driving test examiner will greet you in the waiting room.

At the end of the driving test you will finish back at Doncaster driving test centre where you will be given the result of your driving test along with a short driving test debrief. With success the driving examiner will give you a completed D10 form, which you will need when applying for your full driving licence.
